Neuralink's Blindsight Implant to Provide Artificial Vision
Elon Musk's Neuralink Continues Advancements in Brain Implants
Upcoming Project Aims to Restore Vision for Visually Impaired
In a groundbreaking announcement, Elon Musk, founder and CEO of Neuralink, revealed plans for the company's next-generation brain implant, dubbed "Blindsight." This implant aims to provide artificial vision to individuals with visual impairments.
Musk disclosed in a March X post that Blindsight will utilize a brain-computer interface (BCI) to bypass damaged optic nerves, enabling users to perceive visual information through direct electrical stimulation of the brain.
Neuralink has previously implanted a BCI in a second human subject, demonstrating the feasibility of such technology. Musk's recent announcement signals further progress in Neuralink's pursuit of restorative brain implants.
