German Government under fire for silence on Israeli air strikes in West Bank

Israel condemns Ukrainian ambassador's 'distortion' of facts

Tilo Jung, German journalist and chief editor of Jung & Naiv, slams government's lack of condemnation

The German government has been criticized for its silence on Israeli air strikes in the West Bank that killed a number of civilians. The strikes, which targeted the densely populated Jenin refugee camp, have been condemned by the United Nations and human rights groups.

However, the German government has not issued any official statement on the matter. The German Embassy in Israel has said that the government is "aware" of the situation and is "monitoring developments."

The Ukrainian ambassador to Germany, Andrij Melnyk, has accused Israel of "war crimes" in the West Bank. Melnyk made the comments in an interview with the German news magazine Der Spiegel.

The Israeli embassy in Berlin has condemned Melnyk's comments, calling them a "distortion" of the facts.

Tilo Jung, a German journalist and chief editor of the political webshow Jung & Naiv, has criticized the German government's lack of condemnation of the Israeli air strikes.

"It is shameful that the German government has not condemned these air strikes," Jung said. "The government is sending a message that it condones Israel's violence against Palestinians."

Jung said that the German government's silence is particularly troubling in light of the fact that Germany has a history of supporting Israel.

"Germany has a moral obligation to speak out against Israeli human rights violations," Jung said. "The government's silence is a betrayal of its own values."
